Licence and ownership
RSRL is the Site Licence Company responsible for the management and operation of sites at Harwell and Winfrith, under contract to the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA). RSRL holds the nuclear site licences and discharge authorisations for the sites.
The part of the Harwell Science and Innovation Campus which included the Designated Site is owned by the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority. Since 2007 the NDA has leased the designated site from the UKAEA and in turn leases it to RSRL to enable it to carry out its decommissioning role.
