Lithuanian visit to Harwell
May 20, 2009
In May the UKAEA along with delegates from Ignalina NPP, IEEC and E&Y Baltic visited the Harwell site to familiarise the Lithuanian contingency with UK waste management and decommissioning techniques.
The visitors enjoyed a tour of Dido, a redundant material testing reactor awaiting final stage decommissioning and the head end cells at B462.27.
Ed Abel, RSRL gave an insight and presentation into the world of reactors and the work undertaken at Harwell in the build up of civil nuclear energy. Marc Rigby of the UKAEA, formerly a Shift Manager at B462, provided an interesting insight into waste management operations at the head end cells.
