Winfrith Projects WETP and EAST
March 17, 2010
WETP and EAST: Encapsulation of the final quantities of sludge in WETP is nearing completion. Once completed final washing out of the tanks and pipework in WETP can take place and post operational clean out will commence in WETP.
The link between WETP and EAST will be removed at this stage allowing work to proceed on WETP and EAST independently. Encapsulation of sandy material in EAST for disposal as LLW is proceeding well with over 50 drums produced by early March. When this work is finished the final tank will be cleaned ready for forming access to the tanks for man entry.
