JAPC (Japan Atomic Power Company) visit Harwell
March 31, 2010
In March RSRL hosted a successful visit of JAPC (Japan Atomic Power Company) to the Harwell experimental reactors that are currently awaiting funds for decommissioning.
JAPC is responsible for the decommissioning of Tokai-1, a graphite moderated, CO2 cooled, Magnox reactor. Discussions with RSRL offered the opportunity to share hands-on decommissioning experience.
Ed Abel described his decommissioning lessons learned and discussed the challenges presented by the decommissioning of the graphite moderated BEPO reactor. In its closing remarks JAPC offered its thanks to RSRL for a highly informative and interesting visit.
