Babcock MD tours sites

August 12, 2010

Following the acquisition of RSRL by Babcock International, Roger Hardy, recently appointed managing director of Babcock Nuclear, paid visits to the Harwell and Winfrith sites.

Roger, a mechanical engineer by background, was appointed managing director of Babcock’s Nuclear Business Unit in March. The Unit encompasses Babcock’s interests in the civil nuclear market, including decommissioning, operational support, new build and overseas opportunities. At the time of his appointment, he announced his intention to visit all the Unit’s sites and meet as many staff as possible.

He was able to fulfil this promise to RSRL in early summer, touring both Winfrith and Harwell sites, meeting staff and taking a close look at the activities taking place there, including decommissioning and waste processing operations.

At the time of his appointment, he commented, “I am delighted to be leading Babcock’s Nuclear Business Unit at this pivotal time for the industry. I am confident Babcock can become a lead player in many areas of the market.”
