The Annual Sites Review  for the year ending 31 March 2010, has recently been published.

The review reflects on the past years performance and highlights RSRL's achievements, these include:

  • Building 462 waste processing targets exceeded.
  • Work completed on the eastern area of the site enabling the shrinking of the secured site footprint in May 2010 and, for the first time in decades, the absence of police officers at the former main gate.
  • Four buildings demolished – one with funds allocated late in the year from the NDA’s portfolio management scheme.
  • SGHWR and Dragon – care and maintenance preparation well under way. 12 large steel tanks size-reduced and 800 fission chambers successfully processed.
  • Zebra reactor complex is fully decommissioned and the surrounding area returned to green field site.
  • Waste management progressed; 104m2 of LLW has been sent to the repository at Drigg and in addition 287m2 of VLLW sent to landfill.
