RSRL supports Children’s Safety Education
October 25, 2010
RSRL has supported the issuing of Safety Education books to local schools. The books; designed with the cooperation of the emergency services, child protection experts and teachers cover topics such as bullying, first aid, road safety, drug, alcohol and solvent misuse.
The resources, provided to children in Dorset and Oxfordshire Primary Schools, are filled with a range of exercises, activities and classroom topics and address key elements of a child’s personal and social education - aiming to increase young people’s understanding and confidence to make their own decisions in life when faced with difficult choices related to peer pressure and risks.
Head Teacher Lesley Craze at Wool First in Dorset said: “Health & Safety is very high on our school agenda and the booklets kindly donated are a useful tool in teaching our PSHE curriculum."
Head Teacher Liz Tansley at The Hendreds C of E school in Oxfordshire said "We find these books a great resource. Our children and young people today are under enormous pressure to navigate the adult world and these materials help them gradually to build up the understanding, knowledge and strategies they need to deal with unfamiliar and sometimes threatening situations. Many thanks to RSRL for working with us."
Schools to also benefit from this sponsorship; Harwell and Chilton Primary Schools in Oxfordshire and Primary Schools; Frome, Broadmayne and Lulworth in Dorset.
