Local MP tours RSRL Harwell

November 23, 2010

The Minister for Culture, Communications and Creative Industries and local MP, Ed Vaizey, visited Research Sites Restoration Ltd (RSRL) at Harwell last week. Mr Vaizey met with Managing Director, Alan Neal, who updated him on clean-up work carried out by RSRL on behalf of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA). He then toured the Harwell site and visited the waste processing complex. There he met facility staff to learn more about Harwell's waste packaging operations before assisting them in processing a milestone waste canister using remote handling equipment.

Mr Vaizey stated "I am impressed with RSRL's progress in cleaning up the Harwell site since my last visit. I look forward to the site's release which will support the continued development of the Harwell Science and Innovation Campus."

Alan Neal commented “it was a pleasure to show Mr Vaizey the decommissioning achievements that have been made since his last visit. We are very proud of our successes and welcomed the opportunity to show our local MP and Government Minister the progress that our dedicated and highly professional work force have achieved.”
