SGHWR and Dragon - The decommissioning of the Dragon fission product delay beds
has now begun. The first phase of pumping out the water has been successfully
completed with the preliminaries for the next phase underway.
The first of the A59.1 ISO containers has been successfully unpacked and the activity
assessments are underway to allow the repacking and disposal of this waste.
Work is progressing well with the VLLW bag removal campaign, the first third of the
300 cubic metres has been completed.
WETP - The pre-demolition Health Physics survey of the WETP Cell is reaching
completion. Exempt waste is still being processed through WETP. Decontamination
of the receipt tank is progressing.
EAST - Tank 4 of the West section of the roof is ready for removal which will
commence next week. The cleaning of Tank 3 is nearing completion. The weir box in
tank 3 contains a small amount of sludge and documentation for its removal is ready
for review. An initial Health Physics survey of the pipe corridor identified a hot spot. A
second, more detailed, survey will be undertaken establishing the source of the
hotspot.
