U3A visit to Winfrith
March 14, 2011
A group of 14 members of the Dorset Villages U3A visited Winfrith on the 1 March. They were given a guided tour of the Dragon reactor Building by Tony Smith and Andy Philps.
The University of the Third Age is an international organisation whose aims are the education and stimulation of retired members of the community - those in the third 'age' of life. It is commonly referred to as U3A.
The group were well informed because, only the week before, they had received a lecture from one of their members on the history of the Winfrith Site, the Dragon Reactor and nuclear power in general. In addition, one member of the group had previously been involved in reactor design.
