Integrated LLW Programme Delivery Group

RSRL recently hosted the first meeting of the Integrated Low Level Waste Programme Delivery Group (ILPDG) at Harwell. The group, chaired by the NDA, was set up following the recent publication of the UK Nuclear Industry LLW Strategy. The group meets every four months to discuss examples of good practice in LLW management, discuss issues of common interest, and support the further implementation of the LLW strategy. Membership is drawn from key stakeholders in the management of LLW including LLWR, NDA, regulators, nuclear site licence holders and non-government organisations.
The group enjoyed a tour of Harwell, visiting the B220 Radiochemical Facility and the Liquid Effluent Treatment Plant. Alan Fisher and Paul Atyeo delivered presentations on examples of innovations in LLW management and the development of an off-site disposal site for lower activity wastes.
