Bang Goes the Theory visits RSRL
July 25, 2011
Bang Goes the Theory, the BBC's popular science series recently visited RSRL. The programme, whose aim is to discuss topical issues across all areas of science, revealing surprising facts along the way, has a primetime BBC1 slot which ensures that it regularly exceeds three million viewers in the UK.
As part of the forthcoming series 5, Bang will be demystifying the field of radioactivity; from what it is and where we can find it, to how it affects our environment and health. Bang will be lifting the lid on this often misunderstood area of science.
Presenter Yan Wong visited Harwell to see some low level nuclear waste and measure its radioactivity. This reading was then compared with the radioactivity of more everyday items, as part of a 'street science' piece involving members of public.
It is expected that this series will be shown from August onwards.
