Final report on lessons learnt from Fukushima for UK nuclear industry

The Office for Nuclear Regulation has announced that today, 11 October, Mike Weightman, the UK’s Chief Inspector of Nuclear Installations, will publish his final report on the implications and lessons learnt for the UK nuclear industry of the nuclear crisis in Japan.
Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, Chris Huhne, requested a report from Mike Weightman after the earthquake and subsequent tsunami on 11 March which led to the unprecedented events at Fukushima Dai-ichi.
The full report builds on the conclusions and recommendations published in May. It takes into account new information available from various sources, including an international fact-finding mission to Japan (and a visit to Fukushima) in June, which was led by Mike Weightman.
