Harwell Local Stakeholder Group visit Winfrith

Members of the Harwell Local Stakeholder Group visited Winfrith recently to familiarise themselves with the site and to hear about some of the successful decommissioning projects that the sister site to Harwell has been involved in.
After a presentation by Andy Staples, Operations Director, on Winfrith’s past and present the party toured the site and were shown around the SGHWR (Steam Generating Heavy Water Reactor).
Sandra Ellis, Chairman of the Winfrith Site Stakeholder Group, also joined the visit and commented “It was great to eventually welcome the Harwell group to Winfrith; we have been working closely with them for a number of years nationally but they have never been to the Winfrith site. Hopefully they can now visualise the areas that I have been talking about for so long and the tremendous work performed to date. My thanks to all the RSRL staff involved, who were once again knowledgeable and passionate about their work.”
